Debbie is an internationally certified dog and cat behavior consultant and has been professionally working in the fields of animal behavior and training for over 20 years. She received her diploma in Companion Animal Behavior and Training from the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology in England in 1999. She earned the prestigious Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) and Associate Certified Cat Behavior Consultant (ACCBC) through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) in 2006.
Certified Behavior Consultants specialize in helping owners deal with complex problem behaviors that are elicited through fear, anxiety and/or aggression. Debbie is the only IAABC certified dog behavior consultant and the only certified cat behavior consultant in Northwest Florida. She often works in cooperation with your veterinarian to determine if your pet’s problems are strictly behavioral, or if there is a medical component. Her expertise in training and rehabilitation of problem dogs and cats has earned a glowing reputation across Northwest Florida.
As a licensed Family Paws Parent Educator, Debbie is uniquely qualified to help families with babies and kids. She has been an expert witness in Court regarding dangerous dog behavior and safety. In addition, has given lectures and seminars on various aspects of dog behavior and works to help raise awareness about the emotional and behavioral needs of our pets.
Over many years Debbie has competed in numerous dog sports with her own dogs in a variety of aspects of training and competition, such as Agility, Obedience, Rally, Conformation, Herding, Barn Hunt and Field work.
Debbie founded and managed a comprehensive dog training business for 18 years which included puppy to advanced obedience, dog sports and mentoring new trainers. She sold her very successful business in 2020 with a view to retire, however after seeing the need for education and experienced trainers in the area, Debbie is now back at work helping other trainers, pets and their owners.
